Tuesday's Tune - November 8th, 2011

Another one of my favorite female artists was the late Miss Amy Winehouse. I think I relate to her music so well because she wrote and sung songs about heartbreak, relationships and just every day troubles, something I'm sure anybody can relate to. Both Albums “Frank” (released in 2003) and “Back to Black”(released in 2006) were absolutely amazing! When I think back, I definitely had them on repeat for weeks at a time. Generally if I am going through something personal for example a break up, I turn to music and I have to say that “Back to Black” really got me through a tough one. There’s something about her style of music that was different from the average mainstream radio stuff. I’ve always been a fan of R&B and Soul and I loved how she mixed Jazz into that as well. I really appreciate someone who writes their own music, you can take a peek into their heart & soul and really feel them. When I found out that Amy had passed away this past July, I can’t say that I was really surprised based on her history with addiction, but I will say that it made me really sad. Addiction is a really serious thing and I am sad that she got taken away from us at such a young age. This past August, her Album “Back to Black” became the UK’s best-selling album of the 21st century. She was currently working on her latest album called "Lioness, Hidden Treasures", which is being compiled to be released on December 5th, 2011. I can only imagine the success this new album would have brought her, truly a great artist, she will be missed.

It was extremely hard to pick a favorite song to share with you, but this is one that I find myself replaying constantly… love it. "Help Yourself"

This is a bonus one! It's off the new album... the song is called "Like Smoke, feat Nas"... I'm obsessed!

That concludes Tuesday's Tune!
Cheers!
