Happy Halloween!

So normally I would be cringing at the thought that I’m at work and not in bed on one of the worst days of the week (Monday) but today’s a special exception because it’s Halloween!! It’s finally here!! My friend compared my excitement for Halloween to a kid on Christmas eve with rich parents Haha! Guilty! I love Halloween more than anything! So fun!
I had a great weekend! Costume party, scary movies, pumpkin carving AND baking, doesn’t get much better than that!

Here are the cupcakes I did for Halloween! As mentioned last week, I wanted to try filling the cupcakes with a few of my “guilty pleasures”.
The ones below are Swiss chocolate cake with Reese Pieces & Caramel centers. Delicious!!!

Check in tomorrow for Tuesday’s tune!! Happy Halloween everyone!!

One of those days...

So a typical morning wake up in my apartment is the 5 am crying from my dog to go outside, (pain in the ass) so I take him out and then go back to bed till about 6:00 am, when my alarm goes off.
So this morning around 4:45 am my little mutt woke me up, I took him down the street and then jumped back into the bed. I woke up today to Behr licking my face and it being totally bright out….. 8am was the exact time aka when I start work. So having said that, my day started in a panic/rush. Naturally to follow the panic of being late, I would get stuck in the most ridiculous traffic, so an hour and half later I got to work.
While sitting in traffic watching the lights turn from green to red over and over again while my car stood still, I was thinking about what I could blog about today. All I could come up with given the morning that I was having,  was this ridiculously funny Youtube video that I watched with my girlfriends last night.

This chick is hilarious…. So enjoy!

She has a ton of videos, I suggest you watch them all.... hilarious!!!

Cheers!

Great Gift Ideas!

I know when I am watching the waistline and staying away from sweets, I still get cravings for a good cupcake! What a better way to satisfy your cupcake craving than with these adorable cupcake wine stem charms!
My girlfriend showed me these on Etsy and with Christmas just around the corner (scary I know) these would work great as gifts for a coworker or secret Santa amongst friends, or even just a little gift for a friend’s birthday!
Personally, I would get them for myself! My friends and I enjoy our wine, and after a few glasses, its very easy to forget who's wine glass is whose! So these are perfect for having dinner parties or even just having a few friends over!

These charms are all hand made out of Polymer Clay by “Chikipita” on Etsy. The details are ridiculously cute!!  They’re definitely reasonably priced and I don’t know about you but it feels awesome buying products from small and local businesses!

Well Folks, we've allllmost reached the weekend!
Cheers.

Guilty Pleasures...

What’s better than Cupcakes? Cupcakes filled with mouthwatering fillings! There's really endless possibilities for fillings, which is always fun because it gives a nice little “Surprise” to the cupcake! With Halloween in mind, I chose 3 of my favorite candy bars that you will often find in your trick or treat bag! Reese’s Pieces, Skor Bar & The Classic Hershey’s Milk Chocolate.

I for the most part try to eat pretty healthy, I stay away from all candy bars but around this time of year I just can’t help myself, definitely one of my guilty pleasures!

Check out these cupcakes that have inspired me to bake this weekend!! It’ll be tough to choose which candy bar….who am I kidding I’ll do all 3, Go big or go home right?

Delicious right?

Happy hump day!

Tuesday's Tune -October 25th, 2011

One of my favorite quotes is from the legendary Bob Marley. "One good thing about Music is, once it hits you, you feel no pain." Music has always been a huge part of my life. I grew up with a father who introduced me to everything from the Beatles to Radiohead, the Stones to Bob Marley. I will forever be thankful for his introduction because I could not live without these tunes.
The only music I would ask him to skip over, is country. I just couldn't get into it. I fully respect the artists who produce country music, but let's just say it is not for me.

It was really hard deciding which song and artist I would introduce in my first addition of Tuesday's Tune. When I first heard this song, I was driving to work and found myself humming 60 seconds in. I was completely shocked when the Radio announcer informed me that it was Lady Gaga. Leave it to Gaga to get me into country! What can I say, this chick is ridiculously talented, maybe a little off her rocker after you watch this video, but seriously full of pure raw talent. Singer, Song writer, and creative genius, Lady Gaga is seriously giving Madonna a run for her money.

So without further a do, probably the weirdest music video I have ever watched,...
You & I - By Lady Gaga.

Cheers!

I believe in change!

This weekend I spent my Saturday afternoon with 2 of my close friends at Victoria Square supporting Occupy Montreal. The anticipation on the drive down was an interesting feeling because I was very unsure of what was to come.
We arrived to 200 tents, people discussing future plans to expand and promote this movement. There were hardly any police present because it is truly a peaceful protest and that was nice to see.

It's funny, everybody I talk to (my parents included), immediately go to say that it is a hippie convention and yes, the majority of the people there were indeed hippies, but if you took the time to look around there were many average middle working class people like myself. I believe that Montreal's movement could be a little more organized, in the sense that I needed more information in English. I speak and understand French very well but when they are using big words and topics that I am not so familiar with, I found it slightly challenging to understand. I had to remind myself that I cannot let fear and a language barrier scare me off of why I was there in the first place. I want to stay true to what I feel passionate about and that is change.
I have to give everyone who was there yesterday credit, because this is just the beginning and the more people like myself who are willing to learn, support, and educate, the more people will come together.

Here are a few pictures from Occupy Montreal on October 22nd, 2011, I really encourage everybody who is interested to grab a couple of friends head down and just check it out.

My opinions can be very different than yours and this is why I choose not to open that can of worms on my blog, but I do wish that all of you check out this link! http://www.occupytogether.org/

"Nothing is impossible, the word itself says I'm Possible!" - Audrey Hepburn

Today I am going to show my support and educate myself on Occupy Montreal. In the next 45 minutes I will be on the streets of Montreal hoping to ask as many questions as I can, to as many people as I can. Although I have been reading articles and watching YouTube clips, I want to better educate myself on what the real demands are and I think there is no better way but to be in the core of it all. If you in any way feel interested or have any issues with how you think the government is treating you, please come down and join us. I do not what to put ideas in your head that you do not believe in, but I do want to educate you so that you can educate someone else and so on and so forth.

Friday, Amen.

Ahhhh Friday, how I love thee. If you work in an office like myself, I’m sure you can vouch that it is THE slowest day of the week! I always get a case of the scatter brains and I find myself looking at the clock every 5 to 10 mins asking, “Are we there yet?” The thoughts of tomorrow’s sleep in and this evening’s happy hour Cesar makes my mouth water. (Alcoholic much? Don’t judge me, this is my blog :P)

I thought I would keep today’s blog pretty light, here are a few cute and funny cupcake posters that will for sure put a smile on your face!

Have a lovely weekend and as Rhianna would say, cheers to the freaking weekend!

Polish it up!

How adorable is that? I’ve personally never tried the nail art because I find it can be a little “too” much, but I think this is super cute!
Anybody who knows me well enough, knows that I am in love with nail polish. I rarely go out with naked nails!
Not only is it a great way to keep a clean manicured look but it’s also a quick way to spice up your outfit!
The awesome part about nail polish is that the colors are endless!  When I think of cupcakes, pastels pop into my head.  Opi & Essie are 2 of my favorite nail polish brands, they carry every color of the rainbow and every color in between! So naturally, they have the exact colors that I am thinking of.

Here are some colors that remind me of cupcakes, I have a couple of these at home & they apply beautifully!

Happy Nails!

Thank you!

I just wanted to thank all of you who checked out yesterday's blog! I hope you all had a chance to watch the videos that were posted!! I am quite aware that my blog won't make any drastic changes, but just the fact that 71 people checked it out means that the word is spreading like wild fire! It's important because it is ALL of our futures! Occupy together & Educate each other!

A Change is gonna come...

"Occupy Montreal",... are you in the dark? I was until earlier this week and I think it is truly important that we all as a City, Nation, Planet, get educated on this.
What started in New York city has now spread worldwide, including in our very own city, Montreal. Since Saturday October 15th, 2011 hundreds of protesters have been camped out in Victoria Square in downtown Montreal. Although it is illegal to camp in a public square, the police have no problem with them protesting, under the condition that it remains peaceful. So far there hasn't been any serious problems in Montreal and the latest is that these protesters are in it for the long haul!

Here is a You- tube clip for New York City, so you can better understand the issues and what people are fighting for.

Here is another video from our very own city, Montreal. I find it really amazing to see everyone come together like this!

There is no easy answer, but at least all these people coming together gives us hope that we all want something to change and hopefully we can make it happen!

We're the 99%, let's make a change. Please share this on your FB, Twitter or just by word of mouth!

Smile!

Photography by Emilie Olson

I am all for promoting local business’ of friends & family members, so today’s blog is on the lovely Emilie Olson, a super talented local photographer! She started her wedding photography business a few years ago and has had great success!

Last winter/spring I got in touch with Emilie to photograph my cupcakes to create a more professional look for my business! Not only was she a pleasure to work with, but she created stunning pictures of my cupcakes! I was extremely pleased with how everything turned out, not to mention how quick she was to get the prints back to me!
These cupcake pics were from last spring, beautiful aren't they?  I had a really hard time choosing pictures from Emilie's website because they're all so great! Enjoy!
