In the Christmas spirit yet? Oddly enough, I became in the spirit mid November this year?! I can't complain though, I actually really enjoy the holidays & everything to do with them! SO if you're not in the spirit yet, check out today's tune, its a classic!
Hello! Long time I know... Been busy & adjusting to the darkness/ colder weather, that time of year folks!
Today's tune is off The Lumineers' debut album, which was released on April 3rd 2012. The band is based in Denver Colorado, and is made up of 3 talented members; Wesley Schultz, Jeremiah Fraites, and Neyla Pekarek. For any of you who have listened to their album, you know that picking a "favorite" song is close to impossible, as all the songs are fantastic! One that has been sticking to me for a couple of weeks now is today's tune. So without further a do, please check out "Dead Sea", by the Lumineers.
Yesterday, Felix Baumgartner made history. He is the first person to break the speed of sound in free fall, and several other records! I am so happy I tuned into the live footage, because it was really something to see. Because Iphone is genius, I decided to take snap shots of this historical day! For full information on yesterday's jump, please check out; http://www.redbullstratos.com/.
Below, are 21 pictures taken from my phone from the live footage yesterday!
Been awhile!! I've been super busy moving, adjusting to the move, working and of course October wouldn't come without some sort of cold or sinus infection. Having said all that, I'm back, and it's FRIDAY! You know what that means... Jenna Marbles!
Happy Friday! For all you Hudson-Montreal people, The Franklin Electric will be performing at The Chateau Du Lac this Saturday night at 10pm. You DON'T want to miss it, as it's not often they come to Hudson!!
Here's the latest Jenna Marble's video, crazy and hilarious as always!
Let us not forget the tragic events that happened (which seemed like yesterday) 11 years ago today, in New York City. Let us remember the heroes, and unfortunate losses of that day and think of the families and everyone who was affected. Like any tragedy, it makes us remember that life is precious.
Today's tune is unrelated to September 11th, but is one of my favorites. This is a cover of Florence & the Machines. My gf introduced it to me at work, and told me "when you're having a bad day, put it on and it'll make you feel better". She's totally right, if this song doesn't make your heart warm, than I don't know what will. Here's a cover of "Shake it Out" by The Capital Children's Choir.
Amazing no? In a way it is related to September 11th - don't sweat the small things, shake it out. Life is too short to worry about what he or she said.
Although many are complaining about this weather, I just bought 3 pairs of boots -so I couldn't be happier!! Fall is by far my favorite time of year, love the colored leaves and crisp air, fresh veggies and well, of course the fashion!
In honor of today's crisp weather, here's a classic recipe that SCREAMS fall, Apple Crisp. This recipe is from one of my favorite chef's Ina Garten, the recipe can be found in her 2002 Barefoot Contessa; Parties book.
The Prep takes about 20 mins, and about an hour to cook. Really not that much time and energy at all to create something SO amazing.
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Butter a 9 by 14 by 2-inch oval baking dish.
Peel, core, and cut the apples into large wedges. Combine the apples with the zests, juices, sugar, and spices. Pour into the dish.
To make the topping, combine the flour, sugars, salt, oatmeal, and cold butter in the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment. Mix on low speed until the mixture is crumbly and the butter is the size of peas. Scatter evenly over the apples.
Place the crisp on a sheet pan and bake for 1 hour until the top is brown and the apples are bubbly. Serve warm.
SO we're already September... pretty crazy no? Before you know it, it'll be Christmas... yes I said it.
I was away last week in Maine, it was amazing. So beautiful and relaxing, amazing weather, fresh seafood and cheap booze - can you ask for more? Since I was away, I didn't post last week's Jenna Marble's video. So today you get a double whammy!! Enjoy guys, happy Friday!!
Here's some pictures of the wedding cupcakes I did, taken by the ever so talented Emilie Olson! For more pictures and contact information check out www.emilieolson.com
As of 4pm today I am on VACATION!!!!! Feels like an eternity since I've said those words! I'll be heading to Maine tomorrow morning for some much needed relaxation & well lets be honest...shopping! Pictures and new Blog post after Labor Day, stay tuned!!
These aren't the best pictures, but here's a taste of the wedding order I did this past weekend! Emilie Olson, who I've mentioned in previous posts was their photographer, and she took some pictures of the set up - can't wait to see & share them with you all!!
This is my second Giant Cupcake and I can assure it won't be the last, really fun to make and super cute!!!
Hope all is well, can't believe how fast is flying, I say this every week but it's because I am truly shocked with how we're already almost mid August.
This is a remix of Promises!! LOVE it... Anything with Drake and Wiz Khalifa, I'm down.
As mentioned in yesterday post, mid August I will be doing my second Wedding order of summer 2012 - very exciting! My client is sticking to pastel pink & class white, accented with white pearls as decor, simple but elegant.
Below are pictures of liners i recently ordered for the big day and also the picture the bride sent me for inspiration. Instead of the 3 tiered cake, we'll be doing a large cupcake so they can put on the toppers.
I was lucky enough to find 2 out of the 3 lace liners from the picture above. I really recommend you check out Sunday Rabbit on Etsy.com she has really amazing deals on cupcake liners and other various products!
Woah seriously, where did July go? I know Summer always seems to pass by quickly, but is it just me or is the year 2012 passing by at lightning speed?
Today's track isn't new, but my friends and I just discovered it a couple of weeks ago while watching this ridiculously amazing dance crew called Remote Kontrol. Not only were we blown away by their moves, but we all fell in love with this song called "Crave You" by Flight Facilities, remixed by Adventure Club. You have to enjoy Dubstep to really appreciate this song, just a warning.
Pretty awesome no? I recommend listening to it loud... like really loud!
Tomorrow's blog will show a sneak peak of the wedding lace wraps that I'll be using for an upcoming wedding so be sure to check in! Enjoy the sunshine for me xo
Hello! Today's tune is fresh off the market! No Doubt released their new single called "Settle Down" yesterday, and I have to admit - it's growing on me. The first listen I wasn't sold at all, but I find most music grows on me after a couple of tries, so I decided to not judge the book by its cover and gave it another go!
I am really excited for their new album to drop in September, its been so long that No Doubt released anything, 10 years to be exact!
What I really love about Summer, is the variety of fresh vegetables! I recently started going to "Daousts", which is a local market, that sells fresh local fruits and vegetables, about 5 minutes away from Hudson. The price is right, and I am always satisfied with what I buy! Lately I have been buying random veggies, grilling them and topping them with goat cheese, SO delicious. What's fun about veggies, is you can literally do anything with them, put it in a sandwich, top it on a homemade pizza, or pop them into a pasta etc. If you live alone like myself, save your left over roasted or grilled veggies for omelets, so good!
Here's a recipe from Chatelaine Mag, it's simple, packed with flavor and takes about 15 minutes to cook!
Roasted veggies and pasta with goat cheese
Ingredients
3 garlic cloves, peeled
2 large tomatoes, coarsely chopped
1 yellow pepper, chopped
1 small red onion, chopped
1 tbsp olive oil
1 tsp salt
1/2 450 g pkg whole-wheat or spelt linguine
1/2 130 g log herbed goat cheese
1/2 cup shredded fresh basil
Position a rack in bottom of oven. Preheat oven to 500F. Bring a large saucepan of water to a boil. Place garlic in a large bowl. Add tomatoes, pepper and onion to garlic, along with oil and salt. Season with fresh pepper and stir to coat. Spread veggies out in a single layer on a baking sheet.
Roast veggies on bottom oven rack until lightly browned, about 15 minutes. Stir halfway through.
Add pasta to boiling water after veggies have roasted 7 minutes. Cook until al dente, about 8 to 10 minutes
Remove roasted garlic to a large bowl. Mash against side of bowl. Add veggies and their juices. Drain pasta and add to bowl. Crumble in cheese. Sprinkle with basil and stir until combined.

Hello, hello! Hope you're all doing well! I spent an awesome past weekend at my buddy's cottage up north, his place is about an hour past Montebello, and it is located on possibly THE best lake ever! I am super fortunate to be heading up again this upcoming weekend for Canada day, this time staying 3 nights at my best friend's cottage about 15 minutes past Morin Heights. Let the good times roll...
Today's tune features my favorite local artiste, Jess Hart. Originally from Montreal, Jess is now living on the Sunshine Coast in BC. While Hart currently works on her new album, she is enjoying ocean views from her stellar home, I can only imagine how awesome this album will be, based on the influences of her surroundings! I've had the pleasure of hearing a couple of Hart's new tracks, and they're absolutely amazing! Today's tune is Jess Hart's newly released Single called "Lifestyle Ad", which can now be purchased on ITunes! I guarantee you will all LOVE IT.
Click on the ITunes link to purchase & be sure to check out Jess Hart's website for anymore info! www.jesshart.com
Last Friday I attended the Radiohead show that took place at the Bell Center in Montreal. Although I absolutely despise watching shows there, it was a given that Radiohead would yet again blow me away. I honestly don't even have words for how awesome they were. So much talent! The sound was incredible, light show was visually stimulating, and just absolutely perfect! I wanted to post a picture of the set that I took, but I left my camera at home today, like a tool.
It would be impossible to pick a favorite Radiohead song, but one of my top 5s is True Love Waits, and I was so pleased to hear them play it as their last song of the night. They remixed it into "Everything in it's Right Place", it was just perfect! Enjoy!!
OK OK, I just had to give one more... here's another one of my favs "Recknoner"
I have been MIA lately due to a hectic, and emotional couple of weeks. My thought process is just not there and I am sure with time I will be back on track but for now, all I can say is that life is too precious! Enjoy every moment of it and be thankful of your healthy friends and family members. Be there for your friends through thick, and thin. Don't waste your time on petty problems, live life to its fullest.
This weekend is a very special weekend, my girlfriend (the first out of our group) will be getting married! I will be in charge of the cupcakes for this special event, and I cannot wait to share this process with you! It will be Les Gâteaux Mignons' first wedding event! I am nervous, but also super excited! Having said that, I will be extremely busy this week juggling everything and therefore blogging will be at the end of my list! Many pictures will be posted once completed, so be sure to stay tuned! Lots of love xo
Today's tune is from a local band who many of you have probably seen live in our little town of Hudson, or across Montreal. The Franklin Electric have been producing music for the past couple of years, and are currently working on their debut album! The band is comprised of Jon Matte (vocals, piano and trumpet), Kevin Warren (drums), Jean-Sebastien Leblanc (guitars), Bud Rice (guitars) and Martin Desrosby (bass). These guys have mad talent, and I truly love how original their style of music is, much different from what you hear in the every day mainstream music world.
This summer the band is trying something new, "Find me on a Roof Top Near You". The Band will be travelling from roof top to roof top around the city of Montreal, performing different hits! Be sure to check out today's tune (one of my favorites from the band) called "Old Piano", the first episode from the series "Find me on a Roof Top Near You..."
